Leonardo da Vinci's Viola Organista


A bizarre instrument combining a piano and cello has finally been played to an audience more than 500 years after it was dreamt up Leonardo da Vinci. The viola organista has now come to life, thanks to a Polish concert pianist with a flair for instrument-making and the patience and passion to interpret da Vinci’s plans.
The instrument has the characteristics of three insturments: the harpsichord, the organ and the viola da gamba.

Turning water into hydrogen


ScienceDaily reports what maybe a breakthrough in solar/hydrogen technology: a new semi conducting electrode design, made of Silicon and Nickel, has been created which is low-cost and long-lasting.  The new design prevents the terminals from corroding rapidly, something which has held up adoption of this technology.
