What's Over 400 Years Old and Never Had Sex?

A Non-Cultivated Banana With Seeds

No points for guessing: the Banana.  The modern banana was created by cross fertilizing two different species of banana which were both inedible.  One species was full of seeds and the other was too bitter to eat.  The resultant mule (or hybrid) has never been propagated from seed.

The Damned: "New Rose"

"New Rose" (released on 22 October 1976) by The Damned was the first Punk single released in Britain.  Oddly enough the Aussie band, The Saints released their classic single "I'm Stranded" in September 1976, a full month before The Damned.

The Five Stages of Climate Science Denial

Long known by the misleading moniker of "climate skeptics", climate science denialists are now being labeled for what they are, anti-science ignoramus's.   Skeptics are interested in evidence and obtaining knowledge through systematic doubt and continual testing.  It would be a disgrace to equate the fake experts, conspiracy loonies and demagogues that pretend that climate change is not occurring with the rigorous intellectual honesty of skeptics everywhere.

Here now are the Five Stages of Climate Change Denial:
Stage 1: Deny the Problem Exists
Stage 2: Deny We're the Cause
Stage 3: Deny It's a Problem
Stage 4: Deny We can Solve It
Stage 5: It's too Late

It's all too similar to the determined efforts of tobacco lobbyists, who in the face of scientific evidence linking tobacco to lung cancer, attempted to prevent or delay the introduction of regulation.

The Five Stages of Climate Change Denial are similar to the the five characteristics common to scientific denialism:
1) Conspiracy theories;
2) Fake experts;
3) Cherry picking;
4) Impossible expectations of what research can deliver; and
5) Misrepresentation and logical fallacies.

Leonardo da Vinci's Viola Organista

A bizarre instrument combining a piano and cello has finally been played to an audience more than 500 years after it was dreamt up Leonardo da Vinci. The viola organista has now come to life, thanks to a Polish concert pianist with a flair for instrument-making and the patience and passion to interpret da Vinci’s plans.
The instrument has the characteristics of three insturments: the harpsichord, the organ and the viola da gamba.

Turning water into hydrogen

ScienceDaily reports what maybe a breakthrough in solar/hydrogen technology: a new semi conducting electrode design, made of Silicon and Nickel, has been created which is low-cost and long-lasting.  The new design prevents the terminals from corroding rapidly, something which has held up adoption of this technology.

A medley of the well-known energetic music by composer Scott Bradley from the 1940's and 1950's Tom and Jerry cartoons. Wonderfully performed live by the John Wilson Orchestra.  Watch out for the percussion section smashing plates (around the 2' 16" mark).

Adelaide's World First Solar Powered Transport System

Named after an Aboriginal word for “sun”, the Tindo was designed to be part of the Adelaide Connector Bus service, a free service run by the City Council. What makes the bus unique from other solar-powered vehicles is that there aren’t any solar panels physically on the vehicle. Instead, the car received electric power from solar panels located on the city’s central bus station.

14 Must See Sci Fi Movies that Weren't Produced in Hollywood

With all the sci-fi films we can dig through across the U.S. (and U.K.), it’s enough to keep even the most ardent fan busy for a lifetime. But then you’d be missing a lot of awesome stuff.
A lot of the films we all know and love had roots elsewhere, with quite a few being inspired by classics that range from France to Japan. From Pacific Rim to 12 Monkeys, quite a few can trace influences back to foreign films.
Plus, even over the past few decades, there have been some stellar sci-fi films released into the wild that didn't get good distribution in the rest of the world .

Paul & Linda McCartney with David Gilmore at Rolling Stones Concert

Paul & Linda McCartney with David Gilmore were among the 250,000 crowd that witnessed the entertainment of the Rolling Stones on the grounds of Knebworth House late 1975.  It was after midnight when the Rolling Stones finally left the stage in a British version of Woodstock – an open-air concert for the quarter of a million fans.  They played until the wee hours and the crowd was still dispersing at dawn.

Bubbletree - A Tree House with a Difference

Bubbletree tree houses are dedicated to pleasant moments; reading a book, improvising an amazing picnic, creating a panoramic view, taking a nap, observing the nature or spending an unusual night.

The tree house is a retractable sphere. At nightfall or during a nap, the bubble encircles the round platform to offer a cozy bed. In the morning, you fold it up to admire natures show all around your bed.
